Often one of the lost G&S operas, and not often performed it is sometimes a surprise for people who find the incredibly fine score Arthur Sullivan crafted for Ida. Written truly at the height of their creativity (it was followed by their most popular opera The Mikado) the music Sullivan wrote for Ida was exceptional and every bit as good as Mikado or even Iolanthe.
